Obviously this is just for girls but every time I discover something I feel it necessary to pass it along.
I already did one about skin care, this one is about how to grow your hair out in a healthy way.
One of my greatest peeves is when girls only care about growing their hair out and they let it get gross, nappy, stringy, and oily. I hate it because I used to do it, but I changed my ways when my hair became a rats nest.
The first step is to cut it, I know that seems silly but if you haven't visited the barber in a while, do so. Shake up the style or don't, but make sure you tell the person just to take the split ends off, they will know what to do. You just have to be okay with the fact that you might get 2-3 inches off if you haven't gone to get your hair cut in a while.
The next step is the right shampoo and conditioner. Toss the cheap stuff; Herbal Essence, Pantene (especially), Garnier, and the like. If you care about growing your hair out then you need to invest in salon brands. I use Bioláge and I love it. Redken is good too, after you get your hair cut ask the stylist what he/she suggests for your hair.
The next thing is to not wash your hair everyday. I know it sounds bad but trust me, shower but don't use shampoo and conditioner. It'll not only save you money but it's bad to wash your hair every day.
The most important thing that will help your hair grow is to not blow dry and straighten it as often as you can.
All of these things happened by accident, I got really lazy with my hair but when I finally took the time to straighten it I saw it grew a lot. I have always been good about trimming my hair, it always helps.
So, hair cut and then go every 3 weeks. They will be few and far between if you do your hair less. Messy or contained buns are really in these days, so don't feel shame for just throwing it up. Do this for as long as you can and then you'll have long hair that you can go back to doing every day. Grow it out and then continue to trim it, then you'll have long luscious locks like repunzzel :)
