In my Life Journal reading, Acts has been on the list. Today I read Acts 21-23 and was in total awe of Paul's faith:
Then Paul answered, "Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus."
Acts 21:13
His bravery is one to be recognized, the book of Acts is amazing. Acts 22 is Paul standing and speaking to the people, in his defense he told the story about how God had blinded him and turned him from his wicked ways (you can read about it in Acts 22 or Acts 9).
Not only did God grab my attention with what trusting in God can do, but He was telling me that if he can use Paul (aka Saul) someone who persecuted Christians before God finally got a hold of him, then even with my very imperfect past, He can use me! I shouldn't be threatened or intimidated by all the horrible things I have done against my God. As long as I am available He is going to use me to reach people for Him.
If you spend a lot of time in the word, you'll find that God takes little, even tattered things and uses them for His glory. You don't a lot of times see God calling a king to do his will, my Devos today talked about how God used a little tiny lunch to work a miracle (feeding the five thousand) and how he used a stick in Moses' hand. Little, itty, bitty things! He calls people who have st-udders (Moses), He calls prostitutes (Rahab), if he can choose people with every hindrance in the world to do His work, He can most definitely choose me.
When the enemy tries to tell you that you're not good enough, open God's word and read about the people, do they seem like they're "good enough"? In all honesty, no.
Don't let what you think your downfalls are keep you from doing God's will, He may and He will surprise you!
