As a senior in high school, I have been keeping my options open as far as careers and jobs go. Everyone needs money and so I was thinking about becoming a CNA and in the description for a college, they said they want to make sure the student is comfortable in what they know so they don't hesitate and make a patient feel uneasy.
People who spend all their time worrying about if they should do something miss out on a ton! If people would just seriously take the time to do things, there would be less "oh dang it, I wish I did that".
With hesitation, Christian's can be very slow on the go, causing several people to miss out on Jesus. We evaluate a situation and tank it because we weigh the options and think we've somehow been given psychic powers to see what the outcome is going to be.
God lays something on our hearts and asks us to investigate a lost soul or someone in need. If he tells you to do it, there should be zero hesitation. The God of the universe is requesting for you to take action, what on earth would make you hesitate.
For what reasons do people hesitate? I know why I hesitate!
I am ill-equipped or ignorant. I believe that is the reason for anything.
Now, let me help you so you don't think I am attacking you: I do the same thing. Often I find myself having arguments within my own mind because I don't know whether God is speaking to me, or if it's just my head telling me. In a situation where I see someone in need, it's difficult for me to know if God is telling me to minister to them, or if my head is just saying "you really should do this."
If my heart isn't in it, I refuse to do it. If my mind is just telling me I should then I really don't want to do it because I don't feel like God or the person would like it or benefit them at all.
My advice says that if you want to be effective (this is advice I'm giving myself as well) then be equipped with God's presence and word so that you can show love and not hesitate to seize every opportunity.
Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.
Colossians 4:5
Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.
Ephesians 5:15-17
