No more "I can't wait"

"Show me, O Lord, my life's end
and the number of my days;
let me know how fleeting is my life.
You have made my days a mere
handbreadth;
the span of my years is as nothing
before you.
Each man's life is but a breath..."
Psalm 39:4-5
The word "handbreadth" means: a unit of linear measure from 2.5 to 4 inches.
This verse came up in my Beth Moore bible study last night and it revealed to me how short life really is. There are hundreds of quotes saying "life is short..." or "life is too short..." and it is very true, life is super short! This got me thinking about how often I find myself saying "I can't wait" and to be honest, I'd like to stop. I see it on peoples' Facebook status' or things like: "Thursday needs to get here" or something along those lines.
Life is already short enough.
I realize I have made this point many, many times but the mouth is a very powerful thing as well as the mind. If we're constantly thinking in the fast(er) lane then life will be that much shorter.
Okay, technically life's span isn't different depending on how you look at it; there will always be 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day, 7 days in a week, 28-31 days in a month, 12 months in a year, and 365 days in a year. However, how our mind works and the words that come out of our mouth can change a perspective.
I really do apologize for being so redundant and I know I fall short in this area because I am counting down the days to see my family and I honestly can't wait to have more to do with my time but I am really working on accounting every hour for what it is and knowing that even the second before typing this...I'll never get back. Today, even though November 15th will come around again, it will never be lived the exact same way that this November 15th was lived.
So, I am challenging you as well as myself: Savor every second for what it's worth.
If we can channel our minds to believe something, then we have the power to channel that into living every second as if you were to drop dead, I just don't think that is possible if we're constantly thinking about the next second, minute, hour, day, week, month, or year.
